Chat Safety
Teen chat rooms in most cases are great, they are designed for entertainment and in some cases can actually be educational, but like all good things there are always problems with people trying to abuse this great privilege. Unfortunately nieve teens in teenage chat rooms are targetted by online predators and people who just want to abuse people. You can do something about this by educating yourself to spot the dangers.
The biggest threat in the teen chat room is yourself. You have the power to reveal as much information about yourself as possible. Obviously the more you give to random strangers the more vulnerable you will be. Try to give as little information as possible to the users in the chat rooms and if you are talking with someone in P2P and you feel the slightest unsure, join the help room and request a history on another chatter and the mods will give you information regarding if they are safe to chat with or "dodgey".
It's very important that you stick to your age group. You could be banned from the entire chat server by strolling your way into a chat room that doesn't support your age group. Never click links in the chat rooms unless they are displaced by a reliable source such as our server bot LogServ or an administrator. It only takes one click to give a person full control over your computer so although the link might look intriguing, something you would be interested in? that is what it's designed to look like, this person is trying to infect as many computers as possible.
Inside the teen chat rooms, it's not strange that a bit of drama might occur, meaning two, three or more users might be disputing a stupid issue in the main room spitting insults back and forth at eachother. Please, do not get involved in this childish behavior, if you find yourself in the middle of one of these join the help chat room and tell the mods (normally they would of already picked up on it). You don't know who is in the chat rooms, you don't know what they are capable of. Although they can't directly effect you through the chat rooms because our software is secure, but you may of given them important information in the past where they are damage you in some way.
REPORT REPORT AND REPORT!!!!!
You might be an experienced chatter and come across something that is so stupid and obviously a scam/fake you just totally ignore it. Please don't do this, the next person that fraudster approaches might not be as experienced as you. Join the help chat room and report this. We rely alot on our users to report offenders because we can't be everywhere at once.
What should I report?
Report users who ask for personal information, report users who post freely personal information about themselves, report suspicious activity, something that just doesn't seem right. Report witnessing abuse in any form.
The truth is inside a chat room, you will be safe as long as you exercise the use of common sense. Sure you can make alot of good friends on our chat rooms but there are also dangers you need to watch out for.
